DM7 Firmware V1.60
Important Notices
Please read the following instructions and notes before updating DM7 series consoles.
Cautions when updating
- Use "dm7_firm160.zip" for the update.
- When updating, copy the unzipped file "DM7_firmware_V1.60.bin" to the root directory of a USB flash drive, and follow the instructions on the update guide. The Dante firmware also needs to be updated. This can be achieved at the same time by using the same USB flash drive.
- When updating the Dante firmware, the message "Dante Update Error. Dante Primary Port has no network link." may appear. In this case, connect another network device to the Dante Primary port and follow the update guide. Ensure that the link-up status remains active during the update process.
- Do not update the firmware of multiple units at the same time when they are connected to the Dante ports of the DM7/DM7 Compact in a daisy chain configuration. During the update process, the link may go down as the Dante module reboots, which can prevent the update from completing successfully.
- *IMPORTANT NOTES*
Before copying the firmware files, delete all other files with extension .BIN from the root directory of the USB flash drive.
Cautions when using d&b audiotechnik DS10 Audio network bridge
- When DM7 or DM7 Compact is connected to the same Dante network with d&b audiotechnik DS10 Audio network bridge, please ensure that all DS10 units are running firmware V2.0.4.1, available via Dante Updater. If running older firmware, the Dante Device Mounting process on DM7 may not work correctly or behaves in an unstable manner. This prevents external Dante I/O devices, such as R series, from working correctly with DM7.
DM7 Series Firmware/Editor Compatibility
Please make sure an appropriate version of Editor software is used, which is compatible with your console firmware in reference to the following compatibility chart. Using an unsupported Firmware/Editor and other related software combination may result in unexpected behavior.Main Revisions and Enhancements
New features in V1.60
- Now supports the PY64-D audio interface card.
- Now supports control of AFC Image, allowing object panning and scene recalling. This feature requires the Theatre Package to be installed.
- Now supports 5.1ch surround panning and surround monitoring. These features require the Broadcast Package to be installed.
- Control Room functions of Nuendo and Cubase Pro can now be assigned to User Defined Knobs and Keys. This feature requires "Yamaha Console Extension V3.6.0" to be installed on the host computer.
- Added Digital Audio Labs Livemix Personal Monitor System devices to the DANTE SUPPORTED DEVICE list.
- Added a Lo Ratio parameter to each Reverb FX (except Space Simulator).
- Configuration files can now also be saved/loaded to internal storage.
Improvements in V1.60
- Now DM7 can be enrolled in a DDM domain, allowing control of Dante I/O devices, such as R Series I/O Racks, that are enrolled in the same domain.
- Last selected fader bank mode and layer settings are now saved and automatically restored following a power cycle.
- User Defined keys, User Defined knobs, and Custom Fader settings of DM7 Control can now be stored to UserKeys.
- It is no longer necessary to power cycle the DM7 during the license activation process of the Theatre Package and Broadcast Package.
- Added support for the latest hardware variants and frequency bands of the following Shure RF products - QLX-D and ULX-D.
- The supported range of mounted Rio-D2 Unit IDs has been extended up to Y07F.
- To help prevent misoperation, it is now possible to restrict which Mix Buses of DM7 series can be operated from the MonitorMix application.
- "Sync To External" Word Clock setting for the built-in Dante and PY64-D can now be set manually.
- Improved the behavior of BPM and tap tempo synchronization for plug-ins.
- When the EQ extension screen is opened using a User Defined key, pressing the same User Defined key again will now close the screen.
- A QR code link for the DM7 series reference manual is now displayed in the Manual view of the Utility screen.
- Shortcut descriptions are now displayed in the Manual view of the Utility screen.
- Improved the stability of Dante Device Mounting on the Dante Primary Network.
Fixed bugs in V1.60
- Solved a problem when a redundant Dante connection is used and no DANTE I/O DEVICEs are connected, resulting in the following error message being displayed continuously at the bottom of the Utility screen - "Warning:Error occurred at Secondary Port".
- Solved a problem when Dante is using the SECONDARY port, the following warning message would be continuously displayed at the bottom of the Utility screen - "Dante is working at 100Megabit, not 1Gigabit."
- Solved a problem in which the OSC command for Scene recall did not function correctly.
- Solved a problem that caused the Utility screen to occasionally black out after inserting a USB storage device containing MP3 files.
- Solved a problem in which a screen view might unexpectedly close when operating a User Defined Key that is assigned to another Page Bookmark containing a different tab of the same view.
- Solved a problem that caused the fader level of a channel to change unintentionally when executing a Set Nominal Value command.
- Solved a problem that prevented inserted audio from passing through a Premium Rack or EQ rack when nothing was mounted to that rack position.
- Solved a problem in which when the same GEQ type was mounted in the same rack position in a different tab on the Rack screen, the thumbnail display was not updated when moving between GEQ views.
- Solved a problem in which opening the patch selection pop-up for Dynamics Key In source caused some channel names to be displayed incorrectly.
- Solved a problem that caused a temporary unmuted channel state to remain enabled after scene recall.
- Solved a problem that caused Auto Channel Select to work incorrectly on one of the bays when Auto Channel Select was activated by operating faders on both Bays at the same time. (DM7)
- Solved a problem that could cause Shure RF devices to display "EXT" for battery level when running on the internal battery.
- Solved a problem that caused the RTA to detect incorrect frequency peaks when using Dante as the word clock source.
- Solved a problem that could cause the Word Clock screen indicator to incorrectly appear red when using the PY64-MD audio interface card.
- Solved a problem that could affect Scene Recall speed while recording to a USB storage device.
- Solved a problem where using PORT IDENTIFY with an unpatched input channel would result in a PORT IDENTIFY signal being sent to DANTE1.
- Solved a problem in which Set by SEL was turned off by opening the SCENE LIST view in the Utility screen.
- Solved a problem in which when CH Default was executed, Sends to FIXED and MIX MINUS buses from that channel were turned ON.
- Solved a problem that caused the Patch count indication in the Patch Grid View to be incorrectly displayed when changing patches due to scene recall.
- Solved a minor bug that prevented User Level operations.
Known Issues
- After changing the Time Zone, Date, and Time settings in the Date/Time screen of the Setup menu, Dante device discovery, mounting, parameter synchronization, or Dante patch modification of externally connected Dante devices may not function correctly. If this symptom occurs, please reboot the DM7 unit. This problem will be fixed in a future firmware update.
- If the word clock frequency is 96kHz and the delay value of an FX plug-in is set above a certain value, audio on the Right channel may not output. In that case, reduce the delay value.
- If the Dante Primary port and the PC network port are connected to the same network switch, communication may become unstable even if the subnets of the FOR MIXER CONTROL IP Address and FOR DEVICE CONTROL IP address are different. To solve this, Dante Primary and Mixer Control data should run on separate networks, either by being physically separated or by using 2 VLANs.
- If both the Redundant button and the Split button are turned ON when there is no audio signal input in the MADI IN 1/2 terminal of the PY64-MD, a warning "PY Card Error, Internal Connection" will appear on the DM7 utility screen.
- When Focus Recall is enabled for a channel that is also included in a CH LINK on DM7 and DM7 Compact consoles, incorrect focused settings for those channels will be displayed. Please use DM7 Editor to set Focus Recall settings for any channels included in a CH LINK. This problem will be solved in a future firmware update.
Notices for usage
- After executing "Initialize All" on MAINTENANCE screen, the Dante module will be reset to DAISY CHAIN mode. If Dante is used with a redundant connection, unplug the Dante network cables before initializing, reconfigure the Dante settings and then re-attach the network cables.
- When Dante is operating on the Secondary network connection, Mounted Devices can become Virtual and Dante settings cannot be controlled. This is normal behavior. Dante audio and R series device HA control are not affected and remain fully operational on the Dante Secondary connection.
Notices in version updating
- When updating DM7 or DM7 Compact from V1.51, the firmware update procedure will run twice automatically. This is a normal operation to resolve an internal data mismatch.
- The maintenance screen may appear when the DM7/DM7 Compact is restarted after Initialize All Memory is executed. In this case, restart the power supply of the DM7/DM7 Compact.
NOTICES
- When setting up the latency in Dante Controller, and there is a discrepancy in latency between the transmit device and the receive device, the largest (slowest) latency setting of the two devices will be applied.
