DM7 Firmware V1.53

Please read the following instructions and notes before updating DM7 series consoles.

Cautions when updating

  • Use “dm7_firm153.zip” for the update.
  • When updating, copy the unzipped file “DM7_firmware_V1.53.bin” to the root directory of a USB flash drive, and follow the instructions on the update guide. The Dante firmware also needs to be updated. This can be achieved at the same time by using the same USB flash drive.
  • When updating the Dante firmware, the message "Dante Update Error. Dante Primary Port has no network link." may appear. In this case, connect another network device to the Dante Primary port and follow the update guide.
  • *IMPORTANT NOTES*
Before copying the firmware files, delete all other files with extension .BIN from the root directory of the USB flash drive.

Cautions for Dante Domain Manager (DDM)

  • Please check here when using DDM.
    *IMPORTANT NOTES*
DM7 cannot control other Dante I/O devices while the console is enrolled in a DDM domain.

Cautions when using d&b audiotechnik DS10 Audio network bridge

  • When DM7 or DM7 Compact is connected to the same Dante network with d&b audiotechnik DS10 Audio network bridge, please ensure that all DS10 units are running firmware V2.0.4.1, available via Dante Updater. If running older firmware, the Dante Device Mounting process on DM7 may not work correctly or behaves in an unstable manner. This prevents external Dante I/O devices, such as R series, from working correctly with DM7.

DM7 Series Firmware/Editor Compatibility

Please make sure an appropriate version of Editor software is used, which is compatible with your console firmware in reference to the following compatibility chart. Using an unsupported Firmware/Editor and other related software combination may result in unexpected behavior.

Compatibility List

Dante I/O Supported device information

Improvements in V1.51

  • The Firmware version number is now displayed on the Utility screen during its boot-up process, along with the Update Program version.
  • Improved the system LOG function.

Fixed bugs in V1.53

  • Fixed a problem in which in some very rare cases, Mixer Control and Device Control network communications would be disabled.
  • Fixed a problem in which channel parameter values could not be changed via scene recall if patch or recall safe settings were changed following a temporary recall safe operation using [SEL] keys.
  • Fixed a problem in which remote HA control of corresponding DANTE I/O DEVICES did not work when using the Dante SECONDARY port.
  • Fixed a problem in which USER DEFINED KEYS displays showed incorrect information when [USER DEFINED KEYS] were used as Fader Bank and Bay L panel fader assignments were CUSTOM.
  • Fixed a problem that caused the controllable parameter settings of mounted wireless microphone receivers and amplifiers to revert to default values when such devices where unmounted from the DANTE I/O DEVICE list.

Fixed bugs in V1.52

  • Fixed a problem in which the utility screen display was very rarely blacked out.
  • Fixed a problem in which the [APPLY] button was not enabled after fader calibration was executed.
  • Fixed a problem in which the color of the LED lighting bar on the top panel was inverted between DM7/DM7 Compact and DM7 Control.

Fixed bugs in V1.51

  • Fixed a problem in which certain channel parameter values assigned to encoders below the display were set to nominal values, if DCA Roll-out was used with Encoder Mode enabled.
  • Fixed a problem in which shared parameters, such as network settings, were initialized after changing Unit Mode (Split/Default).
  • Fixed a problem in which incorrect monitoring information may have been displayed for wireless RF devices.
  • Fixed a problem in which in some very rare cases, the Bay L or Bay C main display would be blacked out.
  • Fixed a problem in which USER DEFINED KEYS displays would show incorrect information.
  • Fixed a problem in which the buttons next to the main touch screens would stop working.
  • Fixed a problem in which the firmware update process might unexpectedly stop.
  • Fixed a problem in which if a firmware update process was interrupted, restarting the firmware update would result in incorrect progress information being displayed, or the update would not finish.

New features in V1.50

  • Added support for Broadcast Package (Please refer to the DM7 Series Reference Manual.)
  • Added support for Theatre Package (Please refer to the DM7 Series Reference Manual.)
  • Added Support for DM7 Control (Please refer to the DM7 Series Reference Manual.)

  • Monitor Source Define Groups can now be named in the Monitor Source Define Assignment screen.
  • Monitor A now supports Main/Alt1/Alt2 outputs for monitor speaker selection.
  • Added Output Port Delay/Gain to the I/O DEVICE screen. Up to 20 Output Delay/Gain can be assigned across OMNI outputs, AES/EBU outputs, Dante outputs and PY card outputs.
  • Added DME7 and Tio1608-D2 to the Supported Device list in the Dante DEVICE SELECT screen.
  • DCA Mute Target can now be set as either Post Only or Pre & Post in the DCA GROUP ASSIGN screen.
  • Added Fader Level value indication to the DAW REMOTE screen (Steinberg mode).

Improvements in V1.50

  • Improved EQ and DYN touch control operation.
  • Improved screen switching performance.
  • Improved indication of Stereo MIX and MATRIX buses on SENDS ON FADER selection view.
  • Changed DYNAMIC TYPE selection order to match RIVAGE PM V6.

Known Issues

  • After changing the Time Zone, Date, and Time settings in the Date/Time screen of the Setup menu, Dante device discovery, mounting, parameter synchronization, or Dante patch modification of externally connected Dante devices may not function correctly. If this symptom occurs, please reboot the DM7 unit. This problem will be fixed in a future firmware update.
  • When a redundant Dante connection is used and no DANTE I/O DEVICEs are connected, the following error message is displayed continuously at the bottom of the Utility display - "Warning:Error occurred at Secondary Port ".This problem will be fixed in a future firmware update.
  • When Dante is using the SECONDARY port, the following warning message will be continuously displayed on the Utility Screen “Dante is working at 100Megabit, not 1Gigabit.” This problem will be fixed in a future firmware update.
  • The OSC command for Scene recall does not function correctly. This will be fixed in a future firmware update.

Notices for usage

  • After executing “Initialize All” on MAINTENANCE screen, the Dante module will be reset to DAISY CHAIN mode. If Dante is used with a redundant connection, unplug the Dante network cables before initializing, reconfigure the Dante settings and then re-attach the network cables.

Notices in version updating

  • When updating DM7 or DM7 Compact from V1.51, the firmware update procedure will run twice automatically. This is a normal operation to resolve an internal data mismatch.

NOTICES

  • When setting up the latency in Dante Controller, and there is a discrepancy in latency between the transmit device and the receive device, the largest (slowest) latency setting of the two devices will be applied.
